About The Pictures

My preferred subjects are portraits and figure work and, consequently, most of my work reflects that preference.  For many years, I have favoured work in graphite pencil, although I have also branched out into other media, most notably pastel and watercolour.     

In my pencil work, I use very soft grades in order to achieve dramatic light and shade effects in some pictures.  My subjects have often included boxers and jazz musicians and it is my own passion for these subjects that has found an outlet in my artwork.  However, the sort of intensity and the challenge in representing these subjects can be found in making any portrait or figure drawing and it is my pleasure to produce beautiful drawings of loved ones or pets.
