Graphite drawing on Bristol Board. I used a standard 9B pencil and a large graphite stick on the lager areas of tone. I also used filings from sanding points on my pencils to provide graphite powder, which I applied to the drawing with a very dry brush, in order to render the extremely delicate tonal transitions on her back. You end up with a smoky effect. I used the same technique on “Laura’s Back”, displayed elsewhere in the Gallery.
